Homes for Healthy Living
For many clients of Vitality Unlimited, the comforts of home are elusive. For these individuals – including low-income families and seniors, the disabled homeless and those in transition from drug and alcohol dependency – the Homes for Healthy Living program is a dream come true. In the last decade, Vitality Unlimited has built, bought and refurbished single- and multi-family housing to meet a host of housing needs.
Helping the Homeless, Impoverished and Disabled
Vitality Center's first housing project was a 13-unit USDA-RD 515 project in Elko, Nevada. The 10-month project was completed within budget in May 1998, and was immediately rented to capacity with a waiting list of 60 families. Vitality Center contracted the design and building of the Pinion Apartments project in Elko, and now serves as the hands-on manager of this multi-family housing complex with a diverse mix of tenants. Vitality Center also acquired the adjoining 13 units for a total of 26 units at this site and has acquired the only affordable housing facility (10 units) in Wells. More >>
Home Run for Seniors
After five years of persistence, Vitality Unlimited triumphed by securing more than $1.5M in government funds to build 11 affordable apartments in Elko for low-income seniors. Opened in 2005, Winchester Senior Housing’s one-bedroom units provide subsidized housing for active, low-income, elderly tenants. This project is being built in two phases. Phase I – which opened in 2005 – has 11 units, and Phase II will have 18 units. In 2002, Vitality Center’s Housing Division secured funding to complete Phase I of this project. Winchester Senior Housing (Phase I) and Winchester Court (Phase II) are being located adjacent to Mountain Shadows Apartments at the corner of Winchester Drive and Pinion Road on the south side of Elko.
Transitional Housing
Vitality Unlimited manages one transitional group home, the Sage House in Elko, Nevada, to help individuals recovering from drug and alcohol abuse become self-sufficient. Counseling and continued treatment are a condition of residency. More >>
