1979: Vitality Unlimited became the only comprehensive provider of alcohol and drug treatment within a 250-mile radius of Elko, Nevada.

1981: The first and only rural detoxification unit in Nevada was added.

1985: The agency expanded its treatment bed capacity and extended outpatient services to other rural Nevada communities.

1990: Vitality Unlimited instituted the state’s first rural adolescent in-patient treatment services program.

1998: The WINGS inmate treatment program was launched at Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City.

1998: Vitality Unlimited acquired the first property for its Homes for Healthy Living program, now offering over 100 apartments and several homes for low-income and transitional populations.

1990: Employer drug testing began.

2001: PALS pet therapy programs were added.

2005: Tri-county drug program as an alternative to jail for convicted offenders began.

2006: ACTIONS (Adolescents Committed to Independence, Opportunity and a New Start) opened its doors in Washoe County to provide a full continuum of inpatient and outpatient services for adolescents.

2007: Vitality Unlimited became the only statewide agency in Nevada after expanding outpatient services into Las Vegas in Clark County in October. This expansion was made possible by a grant from SAPTA (Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Agency).

2007: Vitality Unlimited expanded adult outpatient services in Reno, Nevada, with the opening of Footprints Counseling Services. Pre-treatment services are also available to adults on a waiting list for residential programs.

2007: Vitality Unlimited opened its own construction company to provide quality housing for Vitality Living programs.
